LAHeadshots has been shooting headshots in the acting community for the past four years creating a following that raves about our images. When providing our clients with headshots, it is our goal to have the most relaxed experience possible. Since most people aren’t used to having hundreds of photos taken of them, we try to keep your comfort level high. We get to know you and what kind of roles you are looking for. The most frequent feedback we get from our customers is how much they felt at ease while working with us.

We shoot all our headshots in natural light.

I think shooting in natural light gives the best overall look and allows us the opportunity to find multiple backdrops that work best. The Venice, CA area is unlike anywhere else in the country and allows us a huge palette of colors and textures to shoot with. Our clients find that our non-rushed approach from spot-to-spot gives us time to get to know each other, thus keeping you relaxed and looking your best.

We edit all our photos in house.

I personally color correct and retouch all our photos. What you see on this site is how your photos will look- eye catching! Many hours are spent in the retouching process to get your final look just right. I have spent years refining my coloring and retouching techniques to apply to your headshots. When you order photo prints from us, we also have a custom print house we use in New York that delivers the highest quality prints industry-wide.

I have also worked in television production.

I have worked on various television and film shoots for years, seeing which images casting directors pick over others. I have perfected my technique to draw the viewer’s eye to your face all the while giving a perfectly saturated image with crisp detail. You’ll find your photo rising to the top of the pile more often.

Starter Headshot Package

An excellent 30 minute shoot. For the student or actor looking to get a quick shot of themselves, this package works out beautifully.

Simple 30 Minute Headshot Shoot
A quick 30 minute shoot with 1 wardrobe and look. Most shoots result in roughly 50 images, or the equivalent of 1 1/2 rolls of film.

Image Selection
Your final image from the shoot is given our trademark color-correcting process, defining tones and detail to make your image pop.

Emailed Proofs
You will receive a link to download smaller versions of our shoot. From there you can decide on your final image to be retouched.

1 Final Photograph
Once you have chosen your final image, we will extensively retouch and prepare it for print. With all our clients we provide both bordered, and un-bordered 8×10 finals [roughly 36megs each, 21 megapixels]. We also enclose web-ready finals for easy emailing to casting directors.

A simple headshot shoot for students and the price conscious. You get a condensed, no-fuss shoot and still retain our gorgeous image quality.

This package is what most of our clients purchase as it is designed to give us more flexibility in image choice. You will come away with an excellent portfolio and multiple looks which you can tailor to each specific acting audition.

Hour-and-a-Half Headshot Shoot
A non-rushed hour and a half shoot with 4 wardrobe changes and looks. Most shoots result in roughly 150 images, or the equivalent of 5 rolls of film.

Complete Headshot Package

This package is designed with the serious actor in mind. You will come away with an extensive portfolio and multiple looks which you can tailor to each specific acting audition. It is for the actor who can play many roles and wishes to cover his/her bases for future casting opportunities.

Three Hour Complete Headshot Shoot
A non-rushed three hour shoot with as many wardrobe changes and looks as we can fit in that time frame. Most shoots result in roughly 300-400 images, or the equivalent of 10-13 rolls of film. This will allow us to take our time crafting your best shots and creating a portfolio that you can use for years to come.

Online Proofs

One of the ways to get the most out of your headshot session is to come prepared. Here are a few tips we recommend.

Come With a Goal in Mind

Think about the types of roles you hope to land. Keeping these in mind, spend some time in front of the mirror practicing facial expressions and poses that embody the mood you are hoping to achieve. This practice will pay off come the day of the shoot.

What to Wear

Wear something that is classic and simple. You want to draw attention to your face, not your clothes. Earth tones are usually a safe color bet. You want to not only look your best, but feel comfortable in your clothes, so bring your favorites. Also, feel free to bring a variety of wardrobes with you. I will help you pick the most flattering looks and colors for the day.

Makeup

Though we strongly suggest using the talents of a professional makeup artist [we can recommend one if you are interested], you are free to do your own. The best approach is to use a light matte finish to avoid a shiny, oily look to your skin. Also, pay special attention to highlighting your eyes. Bring any makeup with you for on the spot touch ups.

Hair

If you are planning a haircut prior to your shoot, it is best to go to the salon one to two weeks prior to your shoot date. This allows your hair to grow in a bit and look the most natural. The two week window also allows you time to find the best styling techniques for your cut.

What to Bring

QTips can be a lifesaver for smudged makeup. A pocket mirror is also helpful. Other than that, bring your smile!
